Square-Enix hit the target with the

Day 1 DLC and preorder incentives are always a bit of a talking point at Made 2 Game. Some of us think it's outright wrong, while some of us can understand the merit if it's done properly. Hitman: Absolution's pre-order DLC is certainly an example of how to do it right.

The Sniper Challenge is a standalone mini-game that sees preeminent bald assassin, Agent 47, charged with perforating a variety of skulls in a short amount of time for unlockable rewards like extended mags and better scopes.  Aiming to add an extra element to Absolution's gameplay and offering respite from the careful pacing inherent in the Hitman campaigns, the Sniper Challenge is arguably what Day 1 DLC should be: something fun and original that exists alongside the game - and hasn't merely been stripped out to be used as bait for sales. EA should take note: this is how you do Day 1 DLC.

Check out the trailer below for a glimpse of the stylish shooting action on offer in the extra content - we particularly like the final shot which may or may not be poking fun at a certain other assassination-based franchise...

Hitman: Absolution is developed by IO Interactive and published by Square-Enix. It is currently due for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 20th. For more information, visit the official website.
