Latest trailer for The Last of Us reveals new character, Bill

We’ve been following The Last of Us pretty closely since its reveal at the beginning of this year, and every cinematic trailer, new gameplay video or snippet of info gets us more and more excited for Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic survival horror.

The latest trailer introduces new character Bill, a burly survivor who owes protagonist Joel a favour for some saintly deed or another. Voiced by W. Earl Brown (of There’s Something About Mary, Scream and Deadwood fame), Bill comes across as a teensy bit paranoid, but also appears to be a proficient mechanic as the favour Joel calls in is a car that Bill will have to fix up.

The cinematic looks to be setting up either a single fetch quest or a series of such as Joel and Ellie help Bill gather the necessary parts to repair the damaged vehicle. It also gives us a little more insight into the characters, particularly Ellie; never portrayed as a shrinking violet since launch, this trailer nevertheless shows off her feisty side even more than we’ve seen before as she comes at Bill swinging lead piping and dropping F-bombs with equal prejudice.

With the yet-to-be-confirmed release date still torturously distant, we’re happy for Naughty Dog to keep drip-feeding us fascinating little trailers like this for the next six months. Enjoy.

The Last of Us is a PS3 exclusive developed by Naughty Dog and currently expected to launch in the winter of 2012/13. For more information, visit the official site.
