Assassins Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon movies underway at Ubisoft Motion Pictures

It was hardly as tough as predicting the date of the second coming or when PSN might be fully operational again but this story from Variety (via Edge) confirms speculation in our article about the formation of Ubisoft Motion Pictures that Ubi games Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon will be the first to get a movie makeover. Oh, and there'll be a 78-part Raving Rabbids tv series too. Grrrrrrreat.
It's very early days so there's not much more to the story than confirmation that the titles are in development. Obvious choice Driver is missing from the list, but as mentioned in our article, the issue of who owns the rights to a Driver movie is somewhat murky.
"We want to keep ownership, retain control over the film content, and we're open to work with studios on the development of our projects, and eventually collaborate on the pre-casting, pre-budget and script," head of Ubisoft Motion Pictures Jean-Julien Baronnet told Variety.
Jean de Rivieres, senior VP of international marketing and distribution at Ubisoft reckons scripts will be ready by the end of the year. We'd better set to penning some treatments and putting together a dream cast list.
