Nillson - Racing genre's stale, we want innovation, not 1000 cars

Marcus Nillson, executive producer at Dice, has said he feels the racing genre is stale and his studio is planning to mix things up with Need for Speed: Shift Unleashed 2. Speaking in an interview with Gamespot, Nillson said, "coming from a Battlefield background like I do,coming into racing games this genre is quite stale, the innovation seems to be in numbers, 1000 cars and driving a polo 1.4 and 1.6 is not cutting it for me. "I want to move the genre forward, and we are doing that by putting people behind the wheel with features such as our new helmet cam, and by doing this we are moving the genre forward in a big way." Nillson says the new Helmet Cam allows you to look into the corner and take the corner, and gives you an immersive feeling when you break and accelerate, saying it puts you behind the wheel and gives you the feeling of being in a race car... personally we thought GT5 did a great job of that, but then we aren't trying to sell a game. Anyway check out the full interview below.
