Reggie talks Nintendo Wii U

In between his morning workout of throwing a herd of live buffalo from the rooftop of a Santa Monica hotel and into the Pacific Ocean and constructing the lenghtiest pie-chart presentation in the history of PowerPoint (and probably before he wrestled some alligators and lunched on live piranhas), Nintendo's US overlord Reggie Fils-Aime spoke to posh US business mag Forbes about Wii U. It seems the journalist lived to tell the tale following his encounter with Fils-Amie because the Wii U interview has been posted up this morning here on the Forbes website. Being a posh business mag and all that, much of the chat centres around the perceived difficulties Nintendo face in marketing Wii U (it took me a while to get that there was actually a new console to go with the controller, and I was at the E3 presentation. That probably says more about me than Nintendo, actually). "What we are doing with Wii U is creating an ability for games to leverage two different screens; the big screen in your room, and the smaller handheld screen in front of you. By doing so it opens up all of these different experiences," thundered Fils-Amie while he (probably) gnawed on some iron girders. "It’s a great experience. I don’t think it’s going to be a hard sell. I think that communicating to consumers through the magic of the second window, you can have a totally unique experience, with another player still in the room… I don’t think it’s a difficult sell." Who's going to argue with him? Not I. Here's the link to the full interview again. The Wii U release date will be some time after April 2012.
