Takamoto: Males could hide Dance Central "under couch like Playboy"

Naoko Takamoto, lead producer of Harmonix's latest title, Dance Central,  has said he hopes the game will appeal to both the male and female of the species. Speaking in an interview with Joystiq, Takamoto said he feels many of types of people would love to try out Dance Central, but not necessarily in front of other people - especially when it comes to males. “I’m totally '90s…, I don't believe that just because you're a guy and you like video games that you don't want to do it [Dance]. Maybe you don't and that's fine. “Maybe, if you do want to do it and you don't want to tell anybody, this is something you can just have in your house and hide under the couch like it's Playboy or something. I just don't think that across the board people are going to be, ‘I don't want to dance’.” Project lead Kasson Crooker was also present to add his opinion on the type of people who will enjoy the game. “People are into different things.” Said Crooker “There are people out there who are going to hate this game. They want to play a driving game, they want to blow stuff up -- that's fine. “I think we will try to encourage them and maybe it won't be up to us. Maybe it'll be their girlfriends, or maybe they'll realize it's their lack of girlfriends -- something out there will drive somebody. Somebody may realize: ‘I want to get into it because it seems way more fun than having to go to the gym’." Dance Central was certainly a title which seemed to stick out as far as Kinect launch games go, although rumour says it may even come to PS3 too. So it seems whatever console you own, you may find yourself being lured into swinging your hips in the near future.
