Win BlazBlue Continuum Shift II plus BlazBlue Manga and art cards!

Forget all that Black Friday nonsense, today is Happy Friday. Why? Because the nice folks at Zen United have given us four copies of their stellar 2D fighter BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II to give away, two copies for PSP and two for 3DS.

And that’s not all you can win. We’ve also got four copies of the limited edition Official BlazBlue ‘Phase Zero Prologue manga to go with each copy of the game, plus four sets of art cards featured in the image above. Saucy! And, er, fighty. Of course.

Not heard of the game, or it rings a little bell but you’re not sure if it’s of interest or not? Then you should check out our Blazblue: Continuum Shift II review.

BlazBlue

So how can you be in chance of winning? Read on...

Each of BlazBlue’s fighters has a their own ‘Drive’ power, making them unique. For example: Ragna can sap health but is very fragile. Jin's ice based moves freeze rivals solid. Taokaka's ping pong agility makes her scarily unpredictable. Vampire Rachel focuses on setting traps around the arena and forcing foes into them.

So all we want to know is what you’d have as your own unique ‘Drive’ power if you were to star in a 2D fighting game. Leave your entry in the comment box below, or alternatively on the Made2Game facebook page under the post about this competition. If you could also mention whether you’d like the PSP or the 3DS version, that’d be handy.

You’ve got until Friday 2 December to enter and we’ll choose the four we like the best and notify the winners by email or via Facebook. The editor’s decision if final.

    Drive name: Illusion

My drive would be called illusion.

It’d consist of the character being able to displace themselves (kind of like throwing your voice) to confuse their opponent.  They would be able to do this up to three times in the same attack, effectively creating like 4 versions of themselves.  Using only 1 illusion, both the character and illusion would be able to attack the opponent, the illusion mirroring the player’s moves for maximum damage.

The illusions and character would move round too fast to keep an eye on (if 2 or more used) so that when their opponent attacks, if an illusion is hit it will ‘shatter’ causing a hell of a lot of damage.  The character using illusion would then gain the health lost by their opponent from this.

Another part of the illusion would be that the character isn’t actually wearing clothes... the character using the attack would be wearing something resembling robes…Robes that aren’t actually there.

The robes are all part of the illusion and with a button press could transform into extra weapons (with their modesty still covered of course haha) to attack an opponent with.

     Either version please :)

    Ok here goes:
It would be called 'Soul Force: Dopplegangers', an ability to create light and dark clones that can do anything from extending attacks to blocking them, healing you for the cost of meter, or adding their power to yours to temporarily increase attack power. Soul Force's light clones would work by being your active shield, and can nullify any and all damage if timed right (perhaps by a button press, like a parry). And like I mentioned before, can heal about 30% of health with the cost of half a meter. The Soul Force dark clones would be offensive, and would mimic your attacks to add for some creative combos; e.g. do a forward slash then the clone does a slash followup, or maybe launch them in the air then the clone brings them back down (but obviously this would be a limited amount of times). Soul Force's dark clones would also involve possible distortion drives where one could be a powerful slash that pierces right through the opponent, and can be launch from across the screen. Finally, when both Soul Force clones are combined into the character you'll get the ability to have increased defense and do double attacks (kinda like a genei jin). Were all this possible of course there would be certain tricks and balances to it of course, and it would require alot of skill and tactics in order to full utilize how Soul Force works. That's what I've come up with, hope you think it's cool

    Drive name: Gravitation

The character would have his standard moves and techniques but by holding the drive button they will be able to fill up a meter much like Tsubaki's. There would be 5 slots in the meter and it will allow you to pull of gravity related techniques e.g. being able to pull your opponent towards you leaving them unguarded and prone to a combo. Different gravity techniques would use up a certain number of slots to ensure the moves cannot be spammed and the 'level' or 'strength' of the technique will determine how much of the bar is depleted.
Other techniques can include pulling your opponent into your hand and punching the opponent in the face, slowing them down in mid air making them prone to combos, forcing them to the ground (this can enable the character to use a distortion move).

As for his astral, the opponent will be launched really high into the air while the character laughs menacingly and says something e.g. "I’m going to send you into the depths of hell!" then unleashes all of his power causing the opponent to get pulled down instantly and crash into to floor and the body is no longer shown on screen.

I would like the PSP version if i win :)

    Drive entitled: Fatal Chain

invisble chains made from orichalcum are wrapped around my sword, that act as secondary weapons. Each hit delivered by my character would fill up my chain meter, and once the meter is full the chains become visible and start acting as a new arsenal of weapons. The chains on the sword extend with each attack delivered, sort of like a shockwave. difference is once my opponent is hit with the chain i can string into another combo, that can either grapple my enemy or send shards of my chains into them. if the combo is stringed into "grappler mode" i can either pull the enemy towards me or send them flying in any direction i choose.

One of my distortion drives: "Fatal Twins" would separate the sword from the layered chains and turn said chains into a second sword. After the distortion is completed the chain meter's name changes to "fatal". The fatal meter has a time limit of 35 seconds and during that time my character's set of moves changes according to their second sword. The character's second distortion drive: "Cross Divide"  can only be activated while in fatal mode, in which my character unleases a 20 hit barrage of sword slashes on the opponent that end with an attack in the formation of an X. No matter where the status of the fatal meter is located, the character's chain sword vanishes after their 2nd distortion drive. This tactic can throw opposing players off, because my character's weapon and meter return to "chain" afterwards. My character can then easily use their reverted status to fill their chain meter up again and ensare opponents in various combos, until they feel the need to use their first distortion drive and enter fatal mode once more.

The characters final distortion drive: "Fatal Chain" can be activated whether their meter is in "chain" or "fatal" status. A large shockwave is unleased from their sword with the layered chains hidden within. The shockwave bounces the opponent of the wall, then the opponent is ensared by chains and shot towards the ground.

    Astral Finish: Fatal Zero

chains on the ground shoot the opponent into the air, ensnare them, and my character comes in with lengthened sword and finishes with a swift slash, that shatters both the opponent and my own chains.

I would like the 3DS version of the game if i win.

mine would be called Insanity. it would have a secondary meter to charge but as it was charged his moves would become crazier and crazier. as for weapons he would use what ever he could get his hands on and as he grew crazier he would use even more over the top weapons. the meter itself grows when he attacks but goes down when he blocks making his meter harder to manage but once he can go all out it would be worth it. should i win i would want the psp version.

Well I would make my drive power consist of the control of water. It could be called something like "Aqueous Rush". One major move for the water could consist of being launched onto the opponent making them wet and you could make combos by moving them entirely, either launching them up or down. The water drys over a short amount of time and has to regenerate. It can also be used as a weapon hitting or launching them.

The PSP version would be cool.

My Drive called "Bloodlust", it is especially for the melee my weapon (sword or other weapon (s) until it is sharp) is divided into two (2 swords = 2 times more damage) . All my combos will add a shot (even attacks Distortion) a kind of attack that sends the opponent in the direction that the player has chosen (mighty Blow). It was also more likely to break the barrier easily. My energy is increasing every single lot when I hit the opponent. Failure to fashion? It's his life and defense, life down throughout the fight and the defense is reduced! ^^ If I win (it would be heaven =o) I would like the PSP version please =).

My Drive Ability would be called: Ace Of Suits. I would be using a Standard 52(54 with the jokers added) deck of playing cards, that would morph into different objects, or throw like ninja stars (like Seto Kaiba). Some objects that these cards would transform into are swords, whip, a barrier(it would function like M.O.O.D.O.K.'s from MVC3), placing traps on the ground for the opponents to step on, wings to help me double jump and air dash, and armor for when I am blocking. Each Special move (which will be transforming the cards into objects, except for the wings, and armor) I do will deplete a certain number of cards from the deck, and leave them on the stage, only to be gathered by a Distorion Drive which when the cards come back to me they will slice the opponent. The second Distortion Drive I would have, would be using 26 cards out of the deck and creating a Knight to assist me in battle, and it would auto track behind me, and any inputs for it would be reverse for my Special moves. The third Distortion Drive would be just having the knight rush the opponent across the stage and fall into a pile of cards, which my card gathering distortion can cancel into. My last Distortion Drive would be me throwing half of what is left of my deck at them, in a move similar to Morrigan's Spray Shower from MVC3. And last would be my Astral Heat. I would grab the opponent, and gain a pair of beautiful wings, with one red and one black, and fly them over a castle made out of cards, only drop them, and as they're crashing through floors, we see the King and Queen surprised through the first one, the Jack and a 10 acting naturally through the second, falls through a few more floors, only to end up in the stables, with Joker with a sign reading LOSER! Oh ah, if I win the 3DS version please.

I guess my drive would be called 'Darkness Bringer (or DB)' which when used darkens certain areas of the stage when used. The areas darkened will be dependant on the direction you hold before you use the drive. If you use attacks while you are in the area where you set up your drive you have a slight damage increase for your moves. It also causes some of your opponents attacks to miss because while you are both in the range of 'DB' your opponent's character's eyesight is hindered which will decrease the hitbox of their attacks. The drive does no damage and can be set up 3 times on the stage. It wears off after 5 seconds but is able to regenerate like Hazama's oroboros over time. The mist will also allow set ups for certain distortions that can only be used while you are in 'DB'.
I'd prefer the PSP version if I may.

Well my drive power would make them ban my character from tournaments
my drive power would be summon Chuck Norris who roundhousekicks the enemy which is instant win all rounds at once

  • Daniel Yao

The best drive power I could think of for a 2D fighter would definitely be some sort of No-Clip dash, lets me get through projectile attacks and to the other side of the other guy for a quick counter.
    I'd prefer the PSP version

  • Rog

My drive power would be to cut some sick shapes and bust some epic moves. Wouldn't help with the fighting part but I would look cool until my skull gets smashed (3ds).

  • Ad7

My drive power would be to literally drive over the opponent, possibly in a hilariously OTT anime cat truck!

    3DS please!

  • Jassen Payen

I think my 'Drive' power would be to get some crazy metallic shielding like Colossus from the Marvel universe that would be impervious to any attacks, but also increase my strength 10x.
